Scientific Seminar “Digital Hyperspectral Holography. Principles and Techniques”

On January 20th a seminar entitled “Digital hyperspectral holography. Principles and techniques” was held at Moscow Polytechnic University. The event was organized by the Transport faculty, the department of “Dynamics, machine strength and material resistance, in cooperation with the “Optoelectronics” scientific technical center under Moscow Polytechnic University.

The event was held in a mixed format – those who were present in-person were accompanied by young scientists, professors, graduate and postgraduate students from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), Moscow Polytechnic University and Mechanical Engineering Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), as well as  Institute of Geosphere Dynamics (IDG RAS).

Arkady Skvortsov, doctor of physico-mathematical sciences, the head of the department of the “Dynamics, machine strength and material resistance” took the role of the host.

During the opening ceremony Arkady highlighted the practical importance of the seminar and wished all participants a fruitful work. He pointed out: “The organizing committee directed their shared efforts to gather all major figures in the digital holography community”. The subject of the seminar demonstrates how vital exchange of ideas, expertise and cooperation in the sphere of education and research are.

Among the key experts invited to the event were Alexei Kudryashov, doctor in physico-mathematical sciences, professor at the department of “Physics” at Moscow Polytechnic University, Olga Sklemina, associate officer at the laboratory of safety and endurance of the composite constructions at Mechanical Engineering Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMASH RAS), Alexander Tarasenko, the candidate of technical sciences, the research officer at MIPT University; Vadim Agafonov, docent at the department of vacuum electronics, Alexei Rukosyev, candidate of the physisco-mathematical sciences, the leading research officer at IGD, Alexander Nikitin, scientific officer at IDG RAS and Vladimir Nikolaev, candidate of economic sciences, docent at the center of project activity under Moscow Polytechnic University.

Sergei Kalenkov, doctor of physico-mathematical sciences, director of the “Opto electronics” scientific-technical center delivered his main report and thus opened up the seminar. The scientist touched upon the relevant aspects related to the digital holography creation. He noted that the broad-scale exploration of the digital holography has started not long ago which is determined by the only recent appearance of the high-quality digital cameras. The first digital cameras appeared in 1975. Today, a billiard of them across the world transmit more than a trillion images a year. Digital holography appeared later in the 2000s due to the need to create pixels that would register the integrated image. The standart size for a pixel is 3 microns. The main benefit of holography lies in that fact that it can register transparent objects that encompass the majority of biological objects. Our research of the hyperspectral holography is based on a fourier spectroscopy technique, that in the end allows to get access to programs with a high spatial and spectral resolution.

Professor`s speech was widely welcomed among the participants of the event. As a result, many questions followed and various theories on the subject were suggested.
In his conclusion to the conference Arkady Skvortsov, the host, thanked everybody for the active participation during the seminar and expressed a hope that an event as such could become a permanent venue for the discussion of other relevant issues in the sphere of optics and electronics. Arcady pointed out: “The given practice will help young scientists broaden the mind, provide them with an opportunity to acquire skills on how to hold public performances and present their scientific and research works, as well as to exchange ideas and scientific base.
